Musbury to Whitford Road closed after large spillage of lime
The road between Musbury and Whitford has been closed today (Wednesday) following a large spillage of lime.
Around a two to three mile stretch of the Whitford Road is understood to be affected, in what the Environment Agency has described as a “major incident”.
There is concern that the wind may blow some of the chemical into the nearby River Axe.
Members of the Devon Fire and Rescue Service (DFRS) and police are currently on the scene, where workmen are using a sweeper to clear the hazard as quickly as possible.
