East Devon shopkeepers warned to be on their guard.
RETAILERS in Devon are being advised to be on their guard when taking payment for goods.
This warning comes after a local butcher accepted a cheque payment for goods worth 70 when the person had forgotton their bank card.
The cheque supplied was worthless and contained a false name and address.
Police are urging retailers to insist on proper payment including the right card.
