Thought for the Week

When I was growing up, I was once told that Christians could be summed up as ‘Black suits, black books and black looks’ and it does seem sometimes that some Christians go out of their way to be disapproving and less than cheerful.

My experience of Christian faith, however, is that it is founded on the love of God and the hope and joy which comes from knowing Jesus.

Jesus never said ‘I have some new rules’ or ‘I want you to be miserable’, what he did say is ‘I have come to bring life in all its fullness’.

Being a person of faith does involve taking life seriously, but also enjoying and living life the way it is meant to be lived, with the knowledge of being loved, forgiven, accepted and blessed by God; filled with God’s Holy Spirit and sharing in the life which only Jesus brings.
