Don’t miss tonight’s late-night shopping event.

It will be beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Honiton today (Thursday) as the town gets its festive celebrations under way.

Shops will be opening their doors for a late-night shopping event, which takes place between 6pm and 8.30pm.

There will be plenty of entertainment for shoppers, with carol singing and a performance from the Honiton Twirlstars.

Father Christmas will also be taking a break from his busy schedule to make a special appearance - courtesy of Honiton Round Table.

The event is being organised by Wendy Le Masurier on behalf of Honiton and District Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The fun will continue into Friday as the chamber of commerce hosts the annual Christmas lights switch-on outside St Paul’s Church.

The chamber will host its annual carol service in the church at 5.30pm, which will be followed by the switch-on and a Christmas fair in the Mackarness Hall.

From December 9 to 24, catch a glimpse of Honiton Round Table’s Father Christmas float, which will be travelling around the town.

St Paul’s Church is hosting the annual Christingle service in aid of the work of The Children’s Society on Sunday, December 9, at 4pm.

The day before, children can make their own Christingles from 10am to 1pm.

Honiton and District Carnival will be hosting its Christmas Carnival at 5.30pm on Saturday, December 8.

Keep an eye out for the mayor, Councillor David Foster, as you have never seen him before. He will be joining the Honiton Twirlstars in a special fairy costume for a Spot the Mayor competition.

The mayor will also be hosting a free town carol service at St Paul’s Church on Friday, December 14, from 7.30pm.
