Students at Honiton Community College organise fundraising event to help raise funds for expedition to Costa Rica and Nicaragua.
Students at Honiton Community College will be spreading some Christmas cheer in the town to raise money for their World Challenge expedition.
Zoe Keitch, Hollie Trudgen, Nikita Sothers, Isla Cloke and Daryl Young, will be hosting a Christmas market and craft fayre on Saturday, December 14, from 10am until 4pm, at the college. There will be plenty of gift ideas for the whole family.
The students will be taking part in the World Challenge to Costa Rica and Nicaragua next July.
The trip, lasting 21 days, will include a trek of three volcanoes in three days and a community project where they will be working alongside the local community.
Each student has to raise £3,500 for the trip and have been holding various fundraising projects. Money raised during the event will go towards helping the students with the costs.
They are hoping to encourage as many people as possible to come and support them by coming along to the event. Entry is £1.
World Challenge is a skills expedition company, who provide a range of expedition programmes designed for young people to stretch their comfort zones and expand their learning outside of the classroom.
They recently took part in a training weekend in the Forest of Dean to develop and enhance their skills in preparation for the World Challenge.
Anyone who can assist the students with their fundraising efforts or provide raffle or tombola prizes is urged to contact the school on 01404 42283. The students would also welcome any donations of camping or walking equipment.
