Detectives are investigating the theft of a large quantity of cigarettes and tobacco.

Police say the items were stolen from Milestone Services in Whimple on January 9, at about 1.40am, when two men broke into the garage by smashing the front door.

One man is understood to have entered through the front door before letting his accomplice into the premises from the back entrance.

It is thought they left the scene across the field located at the rear of the building then got into a vehicle parked on a farm track before driving off near Whimple.

Police say security at the site has since been enhanced.

Detectives are urging anyone with information to call police on 101 quoting crime reference number KO/13/10.
