SEATON Town Council has voted in favour of several new taxi ranks in the town.
SEATON Town Council has voted in favour of several new taxi ranks in the town.
East Devon District Council proposed the move, saying that Seaton has not been adequately served with taxi ranks.
They put forward four areas "as a solution to the lack of spaces". The first is in Queen Street, with space for one taxi.
The next two would be at Fore Street - the east and west side of the road, with space for four taxis in total.
Councillors agreed with the above proposals during the finance and general purposes committee on Monday (February 1).
But councillors spoke out against two taxi spaces in Marine Place, east of its junction with Seahill, because they felt it would conflict with a bus service and parking in general.
