East Devon slot racing team miss out on the top spot by 50 laps.

A team of eight slot racers from Honiton tested their endurance in a closely fought battle on the track.

The East Devon team made up of Paul Carter, Kes Blackmore, Steve Blackmore, Paul Goff, Dan Real, Mark Craggs, Ron Lane and Scott Layzell finished in fifth place at the annual Battle of the Manufacturers race.

It was a bitter-sweet result for the team’s members who were only 50 laps behind first place in the closely fought contest.

Competitors from across the globe took part in the event at the Heritage Museum in Warkwickshire which was part of the UK Slot Festival.

The East Devon team used a Radical SR9 and were representing Spanish manufacturer Scale Auto.

They were also up against other manufacturers including Scalextric, Ninco, Slot-It and NSR in the four-hour endurance test.

The East Devon Slot Racing Club meets each Friday from 7pm in the St John Hall, Haydons Park, Honiton. New members are welcome.
