Members were given permission to collect money from members of the public outside the town’s Tesco supermarket on Saturday, October 6.

Club President Mike Trott and his team have thanked people for supporting the appeal.

The money has been forwarded to Rotary’s Water Survival Box charity which is providing water purification equipment to people in the affected area.

“We were fortunate to have £500 of this donation match funded by the ‘Big Give’ increasing the total amount donated to £1,350,” said a spokesman for the Rotary Club.
