Accompanied by pupils from the school, headteacher Nic George and members of the Parent and teacher Association visited the shop on Harepath Road to receive a cheque for £6,881 from assistant store manager, James Gabb.

Mr George said: “This donation will go towards some much needed improvements to the outdoor learning environment.

“In particular I am looking into a new adventure play area for the children.”

Through its community fundraising programme, the Co-op gives one per cent of what members spend on branded food products and other services to local projects.

Mr Gabb said: “We would like to thank our members and customers for continuing to support their local store and community projects.”
