Resident dials 999 over fears for the safety of a group of young walkers

Coastguards were scrambled over fears that youngsters were in danger near cliffs at Axmouth at around 5pm yesterday (Tuesday)

The rescue unit from Beer responded to a 999 call from a member of the public in Seaton who was concerned for the welfare of some youths by landslips at the cliffs by the River Axe.

Portland Coastguard tasked Beer rescue officers to investigate.

Following a thorough search nothing untoward was found and it was believed that the people had continued along the coast path.
