AN association, set up to support Honiton Community College, will run for another year - to allow current grant applications to continue.Lack of support had threatened the future of the parent, staff and friends' association but, at the organisation's recent annual meeting, members agreed to keep it running until at least September 15 next year. Chairman Karen Young had intended to step down, but nobody came forward to replace her.She agreed to stay on as acting chairman, for the purpose of keeping the association's bank account open.Lack of support from new parents had contributed to doubt about the group's long-term viability.Fund-raising events, including a concert hosted by Sweet Black Angels and sales of a cook book, had contributed to a surplus of £2,334.82 in funds, it was reported. Money raised had gone towards purchasing chopping boards for the college's food technology department and cash had also been pledged to purchase basketball hoops and a digital camera, among other items.
