Students take part in nationwide Readathon
BOOKWORMS at Colyton Grammar School have raised 1,758 for worthy causes.
The Year 7 students have been taking part in a nationwide “Readathon”.
They were given three weeks to raise as much cash as possible and many read more than 15 books.
Amongst the top “earners” was Kate Middleton, who collected a fantastic 94 in sponsorship money.
All the cash raised will be split between CLIC Sargent, the UK’s leading children’s cancer charity, and the Roald Dahl Foundation which is a charity supporting children with blood and brain conditions. Some of the money will also be spent on new books for the school library.
The event was organised by English teacher Helen Millman-Jones, who said: “I am delighted with the amount of money we’ve raised and with all the Year 7s for taking part.”
