A caravan park will be able to accommodate holidaymakers after district planners approved an application for more pitches.

Ashdown Caravan Park, in Colyton, will also implement a storage compound for up to 30 caravans as part of a site extension.

The pitches will consist of seven for static caravans and 14 for touring caravans.

In its application, Ashdown said: “The business has now grown to such a degree that it needs to expand to meet the demand from visitors for caravan pitches at the site.

“Currently, the business does not have a sufficient number of caravan pitches to meet the demand from its customers and it currently has a two year waiting list before pitches become available.”

The new pitches will be laid out parallel to the existing caravan park boundary comprising three separate plots - one for seven seasonal caravans and two plots each with seven touring caravan pitches.
