PREDICTED heavy rain and gale force winds, thankfully, held off to enable another spectacular Colyton carnival parade to go ahead on Saturday.

Organiser Caroline Collier said they were delighted with the number of entries and the turnout of spectators, for what was a super night for the town.

CUPS:

Best overall: Yee Ha – Sidvale Carnival Club.

Best local float: Bird is the Word – Nunsford Nutters CC.

Best walking: Auto-Matik – A&A CC, Nigel Phillips, Kilmington.

Best local youth float – Nellie the Elephant, Colyton Caterpillars.

Best float from uniformed organisations – Stand and Deliver, Colyton Brownies.

Best music in procession – Obsession from a Western, Axminster Young Farmers Club.
