COLYTON Carnival Committee has announced it made a profit of £10,513 on their 2008 Carnival Week.

COLYTON Carnival Committee has announced it made a profit of £10,513 on their 2008 Carnival Week. Whilst down £2,823 on last year's record, treasurer Geoff Clode said it was great result given the current financial climate. Colyton youngsters are set to benefit with a proposed £4,500 allocated to youth projects. The committee is asking youth organisations needing financial support to submit requests to them. Mr Clode said: "We are very pleased with the amount raised. It's less than the previous year but, considering the situation now, we are very happy. "We want to help the youth of Colyton because they are the town's future. "It was decided last year that we give the money to them." Twenty five per cent of the profit will be held to run next year's carnival, and the remaining £4,510 will be divided among the organisations on the carnival committee. The committee said it would like to thank everyone who helped or supported the 2008 carnival. For details on making a request, contact carnival secretary Caroline Collier on (01297) 553699. The AGM of the carnival committee is on Tuesday, November 25, at the St John Hall, at 7.45pm. Everyone is welcome.
