St Andrew’s Church group presents £250 to Young Minds
The team at Colyton’s Community Café served up a cheque for £250 to help provide emotional support for young people.
The money, raised during their regular weekly sessions, was presented to the local Well Mind group, headed by Joanne Werb, whose 15-year-old son George died in 2013.
The community café opens at St Andrew’s Sunday School building every Tuesday, from 9.30am to 11.30am, for tea and coffee and homemade cakes.
Mrs Werb said: “A big thank you goes to them for the £250 to help fund a two-day event to raise money for the Young Minds charity in memory of George. He was a former member of the local Seaton drama club ‘Con-fidance’ which has been the inspiration for this new project created by the Sara Perry Academy.”
Events to raise awareness on mental health issues and wellbeing will be held in Colyton Town Hall on August 7 and 8 which will include ‘FreeBird’, an inspirational performance piece devised by Sara Perry, a theatrical workshop, wellbeing workshop, high tea and children’s discos with red carpet theme. Sara has teamed up with long term associates Niki and Maddy Cozens and Mrs Werb to bring back the heart of what Confi-dance was all about, helping and inspiring young people in the performing arts.
