Plans to transform a Colyton office into an interior design showroom have been rubber stamped by the district council.

Northcott Building Contractors submitted a change-of-use application in October for its ground floor office in Dolphin Street.

In its application, the firm said: “The office is used as a meeting space and we are also required to hold interior finish samples for clients to view.

“We feel the space could be put to better use if we move our office desks to site and improve presentation space for our clients.”

Northcott added that the move would enhance its ‘business and selling potential’, adding: “Currently, Colyton does not have such a business and we hope to expand on our existing business increasing employment by doing so.”

District planners approved the scheme at a recent council development management committee meeting.
