A 16-year-old East Devon youth was arrested on suspicion of rape overnight on Saturday, August 8.
The alleged incident is reported to have happened in the Vicarage Street area, Colyton, according to police.
A police spokesman said: "Enquiries are at an early stage. There are a number of potential witnesses police need to speak to, to establish what happened."
The teenager has been released on police bail until October.
