Grammar school chosen to host the regional round of the VEX Robotics Competition next week
Students at Colyton Grammar School have been attending lunchtime sessions to work on their entries for the VEX Robotics Competition, in which they have previously excelled.
The teams have received corporate sponsorship from a number of local companies, including Clystnet, a Devon-based web developer, and Ashwoods Electric Motors, an Exeter-based manufacturer of ‘magnet electric motors’.
Head of computing at the school, Michael Cronk, who has been organising the event for local and regional schools from as far away as Oxford, said: “The Colyton teams are working extremely hard and I’m confident they’ll perform really well once again.”
The VEX Robotics Competition is an international programme which offers new engineering challenges each year for schools to compete in worldwide. Tournaments are held year-round at regional, state, and national levels and culminate at the VEX Robotics World Championship each April. Colyton will be hosting the regional round in January, in which 14 teams will be competing from 10 schools.
