Chemistry tutor will battle the elements pedalling 800 miles

COLYTON Grammar School chemistry teacher Owen Mansfield will be battling the elements this summer - with an 800 mile cycle ride and a spot of mountain climbing.

He hopes to raise over £5,000 for the Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) by pedalling from his home at South Brent to Fort William, in Scotland.

And just to make things more challenging he will be stopping off to climb the three highest peaks in Wales, England and Scotland - Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis - completely unsupported and carrying all his own equipment.

In 2008, Mr Mansfield completed a John O’Groats to Land’s End challenge raising in excess of £2,300 for CHSW.
