Come to Honiton’s festive switch-on

Events will start in St Paul’s Church at 5.30pm on Friday (December 3).

BUSINESS leaders in Honiton are working hard to ensure the festive season starts with a real community celebration.

The event will take place from 5.30pm on Friday, December 3, and is open to all.

Honiton and District Chamber of Commerce and Industry is hosting a carol service in St Paul’s Church, complemented by the town band.

All local schools have been invited to participate in the service and parents are being encouraged to attend.

Carols and poems will be performed by the children.

After the service, the traditional switching on of the town’s Christmas tree lights will be officiated by the mayor, Councillor Peter Fleming, accompanied by the town crier, Dave Retter.

Mince pies and sweets will be distributed.

There will be a market in the Mackarness Hall from 6.30pm. Local groups and organisations are invited to come along and raise some money.

Hot beef and pork rolls will be on sale outside, courtesy of Sweetlands .

Entertainment will be provided by Honiton Twirlstars and Santa is expected to put in an appearance.
