Alex Gibson, community development worker for East Devon District Council, has teamed up with Honiton Community Church to organise this year’s Honiton Community Festival.
The event, which is expected to welcome more than 500 people, will have a wide range of attractions, from circus skills to alpacas. More than 25 groups will be providing activities.
The bouncy castle will also have a bouncy jungle run, which is suitable for adults, and Honiton Rugby Club will have its bar open on the day (Saturday, July 11, from 1pm).
Honiton-based bloodbikes charity Devon Freewheelers will be putting on a barbecue and the Twirlstars will be doing a demonstration to Otter Windows’ music, which will keep the field pumping all afternoon. The police will also be there, hosting a ‘race against the speed gun’, and a fire engine will be open for exploration. For the sportier types, there will be volleyball, hockey and basketball to enjoy.
Families with young children will also be catered for by The Children’s Centre and Honiton Community Church.
The scouts will run a junk modelling stall, and Honiton Lions will be bringing Bertie the Bus.
