Honiton and District Lions Club is calling on residents to ‘support us to support the community’ by turning out in force to a charity concert being held this month.

The group has organised an event at The Beehive community centre, in Dowell Street, to raise funds for TRIP, also based in Honiton.

The TRIP service gives door-to-door transport from passengers’ homes to Honiton for shopping and for other purposes.

The concert will be held next Saturday (February 27), from 7.30pm, and will feature live music from Devon Youth Jazz Orchestra.

Lion Bob Francis said: “TRIP is a very worthwhile community charity that means a lot to many people in the local area.

“It enables them to get out where they normally would not get the opportunity.

“Apart from the Lion’s commitment to local youth - by also working with Honiton Community College - this event will see Devon Youth Jazz Orchestra play.

“This allows us to show ‘Youth in Action’, another key area of funding for the Lions club.”

Tickets to the concert are £8 and are available at The Beehive on the day, or beforehand.
