The Honiton shop winner was Charlotte Cornfield (age 10) and the runners up were Danielle Skinner (nine) and Jack Culshaw (four).

This week is National Butchers Week with the idea being to encourage consumers to use their local butchers and subsequently local farmers for all their meat purchases.

"A national campaign is a great way to promote butchers all around the country," says owner Shaun Vining. "We know we have a lot of regular customers but there are still many people who shop in the supermarkets for the convenience or think we are more expensive which is not true.

"Our customers often say that once they have tried the quality of our local meat they wouldn't go back to the supermarket.
