Concerts raise 5,000 for Axminster Church

Appeal for more helpers as Minster team enjoy best ever season

THE popular programme of lunchtime concerts at the Minster Church in Axminster raised over 5,000 this year.

Helpers were told that more people attended the Thursday sessions and an increased number stayed on to dine.

But there was a shortage of women to do the catering and a replacement needed to be found for Tony Boshier, who has stood down from the key job of organising the tables and chairs.

Members also agreed that the season was too long, continuing into October when the charity Christmas cards went on sale in the church, posing difficulties with access and serving. It was agreed, next year, to start the concerts in Mid May and end them in September.
