The world is full of distractions, but...
Last week I had a few days away at a conference, something I haven’t done for years.
It was a very good conference, but it wasn’t only the speakers and the content that made it worth doing - it was the fact that I was somewhere different to usual, making time to think, to pray, to discuss and just to be.
It reminded me that, in the rush and busy-ness of daily life, we rarely stop unless we have to and allow ourselves just to think, pray or sit. The world is full of distractions but we need to take care of that part of us that needs silence, stillness, space to breathe.
It is so easy to fill our lives with noise and activity – but the spiritual part of our lives needs attention as well as the physical parts, and that attention will often mean simply learning to stop
