A HONITON man who burgled fundraising champion Alan Rowe MBE has appeared in court to have his drug rehabilitation programme reviewed.

James Collingwood David Trower, 29, has to take part in the programme as part of a community order made on February 19 for the offence.

The court heard how Trower, of Marwood Place, has used amphetamine since starting the programme - but has generally had a good start.

Trower told the court: "I'm still trying really hard. I have had one week where I felt I was in a bit of dangerous position and decided to do some amphetamine, which was very stupid of me. Since then I have joined the gym and go once a day."

He said he had not used heroin in over six months and was spending more time with his family, whom he claims are the reason he is going clean.

Judge Farmer said: "I would like to see you on your good start. It has been a good start."

Trower will return to Central Devon Magistrates' Court for a further review on April 23.
