Police issue urgent appeal to locate him.

Police have issued an urgent appeal to help them locate a convicted rapist who went missing last week and may be in Devon.

Nathan Lucas, 25, from Nuneaton, failed to appear at Warwick Crown Court on Tuesday, June 21, where he was facing charges of rape, attempted rape and false imprisonment.

The offences occurred between 2007 and 2009.

Judge Robert Orme continued with the trial and on Thursday, June 23, Lucas was found guilty in his absence of four counts of rape, one of attempted rape and one of false imprisonment.

Detective Superintendent Nav Malik said “This was an excellent result and we now need to urgently locate Nathan Alan Lucas so that he can be sentenced.

“We have released a photo in the hope that someone recognises him and can tell us where he is. We believe he could be anywhere in the country.”

Lucas is described as a 6’4” tall white male of medium build with blue eyes and cropped mousy shaven hair. He has a number of distinctive tattoos including a zodiac star sign on his chest and a tattoo of ‘Slipnot’ the band on the inside of his left forearm. He also has other tribal style tattoos on his left and right arms.

Detective Supt Malik added: “These are extremely serious offences that normally attract a significant sentence and the court has issued a warrant for his arrest.”

Anyone who recognises Lucas or has any information about his whereabouts is asked to contact Warwickshire Police on 01926 415000 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
