Joan Meeson says a daily glass sof sherry and healthy food is the recipe for a long life
A Cotleigh woman celebrated her 100th birthday in style last week.
Joan Meeson, of Royal Oak Farm, was born during World War One in 1915.
Married to an RAF Lancaster bomber pilot and widowed after only nine months in World War Two, she worked for the Ministry of Supply during the war in central London. Joan came to live in Cotleigh 20 years ago.
She says the secret to her long life is drinking a little drop of sherry each day at noon and eating healthily.
Joan’s scone, shortbread, lemon drizzle cake and fruit cake recipes are still being used in the Royal Oak Farm tea room to this day.
