FIRE crews from across East Devon were called to Talaton after a thatched cottage was reported to be on fire.

FIRE crews from across East Devon were called to Talaton after a thatched cottage was reported to be on fire.The property, in the centre of the village, was severely damaged by the blaze, which broke out in the roof shortly before 7.50pm last Saturday.Eight fire engines, a hose layer from Honiton, aerial ladder platform and water bowser from Exeter, along with a incident command vehicle from Exmouth attended the incident.A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: "When the first crew arrived, it was apparent the roof was well alight."Crews were involved in the salvage of property from the premises."Two hose reels jets were used to damp down overnight and well into Sunday.
