Cottrell Cubs were working on their air activities badge recently and, to finish it off, they had to make their own aeroplane.

Helen Turner, group scout leader, said: “We thought we will not make little individual ones, we will make a jumbo jet out of cardboard boxes, which is going to fill the whole of our hall. The cubs had a brilliant time making this and they all decorated their own seat (cardboard box).

“They worked together really well making the wings, tail and nose of the jumbo jet.

“We put a sign on the tail that said that we were Cottrell Airways.”

She said it had been a fun and challenging way to finish off the badge.
