PARKING charges in Honiton are so high they do not even compare with fees in neighbouring communities, according to businesswoman Mandy Newman.

PARKING charges in Honiton are so high they do not even compare with fees in neighbouring communities, according to businesswoman Mandy Newman.

Mrs Newman, who owns Beauchamp Place, in High Street, is concerned that charges in Topsham are just 70p for two hours while, in Honiton, they have soared to 1 an hour.

"In Mid Devon, charges are 80p for two hours at car parks in Cullompton and Tiverton," she said.

"And, I believe, West Dorset District Council, has reduced some of its charges.

"My rates have gone up by 1,000 this year - that is a 25 per cent increase."

Mrs Newman is concerned that East Devon District Council has increased parking charges while producing a quarterly full-colour brochure.
