COUNCIL tax is set to rise by one per cent, West Dorset District Council has said.
From April 1 this year, the current charges of �123.57 for a Band D property will increase by �1.23 to �1.24.80.
WDDC leader Robert Gould said the authority was trying to keep council tax bills as low as possible to help people cope during the recession.
He said: Our budget has three major messages: limit the council tax rise to one per cent to help resident sin West Dorset weather the current financial climate, freeze general fees and charges for the same reason, and to make provisions in our reserves to deal with expected cuts in government grants from 2011 onwards.
