Two vacancies were left following the resignation of former town councillor David Perkins, who quit the council-appointed position in May, and Roger Nix, who stood down in the same month.

New directors for Honiton Community Complex Ltd will be chosen at next week’s town council meeting.

Two vacancies were left following the resignation of former town councillor David Perkins, who quit the council-appointed position in May, and Roger Nix, who stood down in the same month.

Mr Perkins quit in the same meeting that the council was rocked by the sudden resignation of newly-elected mayor Ashley Delasalle.

After her exit was announced, Mr Perkins stood down as a member, the council-appointed director of Honiton Community Complex Ltd and temporary responsible financial officer.

He made the announcement after councillors voted to remove him from a committee investigating the finances around the Beehive build.

At an extraordinary meeting of the council a week later, Mr Nix, who was a council-appointed director as a public member, expressed the view that directors appointed by the council should be elected members.

He said for that reason, he wished to step down from the board.

Cllr John Zarcynski, Honiton’s mayor, said: “At the moment, there are two vacancies and councillors will be given the opportunity to put their names forward.

“Obviously bearing in mind that the councillors we have serving now have commitments, and we are six members down and waiting on an election, whether they put their names forward, we do not know.

“Hopefully, we will find two councillors for the roles.”

Cllr Zarcynski added that the council wished to thank Mr Nix for his input as a serving director.
