Council will not elect a new mayor until next year

AS a mark of respect for the late Councillor Chris Tratt, Honiton Town Council will not elect a new mayor until May next year.

AS a mark of respect for the late Councillor Chris Tratt, Honiton Town Council will not elect a new mayor until May next year.His widow, Jean, will continue as mayoress until then, undertaking civic duties.Deputy mayor Councillor Vivienne Ash has been appointed acting chairman of the council, although legally she will be viewed as chairman.Councillors Sally Casson, Michael Teare and Vernon Whitlock, as chairmen of council committees, will support Councillor Ash.No new deputy will be elected until next year.
