FORMER Devon County councillor Margaret Rogers has thanked everybody who attended her farewell party at Seaton Town Hall.

Over 200 residents turned out to say 'hello and goodbye' to the 80-year-old Liberal Democrat, who is due to stand down from East Devon District Council at the end of the month.

Cllr Rogers said: "The occasion was so well organised with scrapbooks on Seaton's history, great refreshments, and, above all for me, a continuous stream of longest standing friends who came to say 'au revoir' despite the appalling weather."

She said she would return to the town for Seaton Guides Gang Show on March 20.

She said: "I'm very touched to have so many friends come along to the town hall, and realise what a great number of people had become friends to Noel and me over the many years"

She said she would be writing individually to those who came along.

She said: "I shall continue to take a lively interest in Seaton's affairs, to watch over the stop line way, support the visitor centre, and hope that happier, more cooperative civic climate will come to prevail in Seaton.
