A PLAN to develop a play trail on a proposed nature reserve in Honiton has won the support of town councillors.East Devon District Council, which wants to provide an outdoor adventure area on land in Honiton Bottom Road, is seeking the backing of the town council to use around �12,000 of a �19,000 pot of cash reserved for play facilities in Honiton through Section 106 agreements with developers.Honiton Town Council's policy committee on Monday made a recommendation to support financial commitment in principle. However, the district authority will have the final say. The total cost of the scheme is in excess of �30,000.Councillor Michael Teare said he had been enthused by a presentation about the project."It meets the needs of so many people in the town," he said. "This is a very well thought out project."Councillor Alf Boom warned councillors not to support too big a contribution to the scheme, saying a lottery bid for a children's fun day at the Glen might not be successful and require alternative funding."Committee chairman Vernon Whitlock said he was aware of a group in need of cash towards a project.Councillor Vivienne Ash, deputy chairman, said the Section 106 cash had been sitting in a pot for a long time and should be used. She considered the play trail a worthy beneficiary for a sizeable chunk of the money.
