HONITON Town Council must make its own recommendations on planning applications and not be swayed by possible views taken by planning officers at Knowle. That's what Councillor Michael Teare, chairman of the council's planning committee, said at a meeting when councillors were faced with an application for a velux window as part of an extension conversion plan. Mr and Mrs Ingram are seeking permission to install a velux window to a new second floor bathroom at 13 Church Hill.Councillor Teare said the plan is to build an existing conservatory and to revise the layout of the existing room.Councillor Sally Casson asked: "Was there not another application for a velux window at Church Hill and East Devon District Council turned it down?"Councillor Ron Farnham, vice chairman of the planning committee, said: "There's every chance the district council will turn this down, just like the last one."But Councillor Teare said: "We have to stand by our decisions."The committee recommended the plan for approval.
