Countdown is under way for Stockland Fair

Days are counting down to the annual Stockland Fair.
The ancient village of Stockland in the Blackdown Hills of East Devon has started its countdown to the annual Stockland Fair with the promise of all the traditional games that families love and a few surprises.
The fair regularly attracts more than 2,000 visitors and the event's new skittle alley, built by a local craftsman, promises to bring out that competitive spirit this year.
The event, which takes place on Monday, May 27, at Stockland Victory Hall and grounds, Stockland, will look smarter than ever with more new marquees and a big team is beavering away in the background, determined to make it a very good year.
An event spokesman said: "Come and enjoy an afternoon of family fun and entertainment, rural crafts and displays, food, ice creams, Otter beers, stalls and music.
"There is so much to do during the afternoon with shows from Dan the Magician,The Tales of Robin Hood, line dancing from Western Spirit, a fancy dress competition- 'Magic and Mischief' and fabulous falconry displays amongst many other things."
The afternoon will be rounded off with the legendary Stockland Eggathon.
The spokesman continued: "Get your Eggathon entry tickets early in the afternoon, the competition will be fierce and messy.
"The current record stands at an eggstra-ordinary 97 feet for a clean catch with the egg unbroken. Amazing!.
"Once seen never forgotten and a side-splitting entertainment."
Admission to the fair for adults costs £2.50 and is free for children under 16.
