Staff and midwives at Honiton Children's Centre have recently completed training with La Leche League Great Britain to enable them to train mothers with breastfeeding experience to support other mothers who want to breast feed their babies. The centre's Breastfeeding Cafe opened in June, and has been running every Tuesday morning, welcoming all breastfeeding mums and their partners. The cafe provides a supportive environment where breast-feeding mums can have a coffee and chat with other mums, children's centre staff and midwives. A centre spokesperson said: "We also have an extensive range of literature regarding all breastfeeding issues for mums to use whilst in the cafe." A training course will run over 12 weeks, beginning on September 9, at the Children's Centre in Clapper Lane (next to Honiton Primary School), from 10am to noon. The Breastfeeding Cafe will run straight after the training, from noon until 2pm.If you have breastfeeding experience and feel enthusiastic about breastfeeding and supporting other mothers, contact Clare at Honiton Children's Centre for more information about the course. Call Clare on (01404) 540820 or send an email to chc@childsoc.org.uk
