A PAINTING of Seaton Hole has been returned to the town council after many years at East Devon District Council's headquarters. The painting had been transferred, with many other local assets, when Seaton Urban District Council disbanded. At the request of Ted Gosling, the town's museum curator, town and district councillor Jim Knight traced the painting and arranged for it to be returned to Seaton. But chairman of EDDC, Paul Diviani, caused amusement at the Civic Day - where some 70 dignitaries from across the region visited - as he described the artwork as that of 'Beer Beach'.Mayor Sandra Semple said she was quick to correct him or he would have been honour bound to offer the painting to Beer. The painting is now in the council chamber at the town hall.
