AXMINSTER police are cracking down on speeding drivers in the area.Regular speed checks are being carried out and anyone caught driving over the legal limit is being dealt with.Almost 30 drivers were caught doing excess speed on the B3165 in Upylyme in less than two hours.And police issued warnings to nine drivers at Tytherleigh for speeding and a mobile phone offenceNeighbourhood beat manager for Axminster rural Pc Kevin Bennett said: "Some were caught doing 47 miles per hour in a 30 zone, which is absolutely ridiculous."We want to improve road safety, not raise revenue. But if we find an area has an issue with speeding we will be forced to issue tickets."He added that there would be further checks in the Axe Valley.
