Latest crime figures for Honiton town revealed.

There has been a “good reduction” in crime in Honiton, it has been revealed.

PCSO Phil Anning gave a report of the crime figures over the last month at Honiton Town Council’s meeting last week.

He said: “The crime figures are very good. The total crime for last month is 37 crimes, that is down on the same period last year of 63 crimes - so it is quite a good reduction.”

The meeting heard that the number of dwelling and other types of burglaries had dropped in comparison to last month. There were two thefts of motor vehicles where two motorcycles were stolen, both of which have been recovered and investigations are ongoing.

In addition, there were two thefts from motor vehicles, including a theft from an insecure vehicle.

PCSO Anning added: “The message is fairly clear – make sure you lock your vehicles.”

The second incident involved the theft of a starter motor, which police believe was taken from underneath the vehicle.

There were also 13 incidents of other types of thefts including eight shoplifting offences as well as three incidents of criminal damage.

PCSO Anning said there were 10 assaults, nine of which were domestic related where the offender was known to the victim.
