CRIME is down on last year in Axminster, according to police findings presented at the monthly council meeting.

CRIME is down on last year in Axminster, according to police findings presented at the monthly council meeting.There were 393 reported incidents of crime reported in 2007, compared to just 269 this year. PC Darren Herridge also said staffing was almost up to strength, following previous reports they were short staffed almost half the time.But he said theft of diesel was ïgoing through the roofÍ. He said they were holding patrols in target areas _ and arrests had already been made.Referring to an incident on Saturday, October 18, at midnight, he said: "As a result of the patrols, we arrested three people who we believe were on route to commit a theft of fuel. When searched, they were found in possession of items linked to that type of crime. They were arrested and taken to Heavitree Police station.
