Reported crime figures for November fall by 33 per cent compared to last month.

Crime is at an all time low according to the latest figures for the Seaton rural area.

Police have revealed that the figures for reported crimes for November are the lowest since 2004.

The number of reported crimes has decreased from 11 in 2010 to eight this year - a fall of 27 per cent.

The overall monthly figure has dropped by 33 per cent from 12 in October 2011.

PC Steve Speariett said: “November’s total of eight crimes for the month is the lowest since at least 2004 and the average for November has been 17 crimes in that period.

“These totals are very encouraging.”

Since 2004 the monthly average of reported crimes for November has been 17.

In Farway one public order offence was reported involving a dispute over a taxi fare where the driver threatened a customer.

A Peugeot 206 was also broken into on November 28 in Southleigh near to the Blackbury Camp car park and a wallet and contents were stolen.

In Colyton three burglaries were reported compared eight crimes last month, including the theft of three bags of chicken feed from a barn.

In addition to this an attempt was made to break into a property at Colyton business park on November 10 and between November 21 and 22 a quad bike and chainsaw were stolen from an outbuilding north of Colyton.

PC Speariett added: “Colyton saw three buildings broken into and in one incident a quad bike was stolen.

“The offenders would have needed a substantial vehicle to take the bike away and would ask the public to record any suspicious vehicles they see and pass the details onto the police straight away.”
