The number of crimes recorded by police in Honiton for the period between June 8 and July 13 was 78 - down on the 115 crimes recorded in the same period last year.
PC Ian Atyeo, neighbourhood beat manager, presented the figures to town councillors last night.
Among the crimes recorded were five house burglaries, four thefts of motor vehicles, one theft from a vehicle, 11 cases of criminal damage, eight assaults and one drug-related office.
