CRIME is slightly up in Axminster this month, compared to the same period last year.
Neighbourhood beat manager PC Darren Herridge said there were 26 crimes in July, compared to 24 last year.
But he told the monthly town council meeting that they had a detection rate of nine, which is up by three on the previous year.
Incidents of reported crime included seven cases of criminal damage, five thefts, three reports of assault, three burglaries, two counts of people being drunk and disorderly, one possession of cannabis, one public order matter and one case of false representation.
