CRIME in rural Seaton has decreased compared to March last year, according to police reports.

Pc Steve Speariett said reported crime was down from 25 in 2009, to six for the same period - a decrease of 76 per cent.

He said the March crime figures were the lowest monthly total since at least 2004.

"It is very pleasing to see crime levels at an historic low for the Seaton rural parishes. The Seaton Neighbourhood Team will continue to conduct high visibility patrols and will take positive action against any person found committing a crime or causing anti-social behaviour.

"By working in partnership with our communities and other agencies we hope to reduce crime further but we encourage residents to report any incidents to us so that early positive action can be taken."
