The latest police figures for Seaton rural reveal a 38 per cent drop compared to the same period last year.

CRIME has fallen for the second month in a row according to the latest figures for Seaton rural.

The number of reported crimes in September has seen a 38 per cent drop compared to figures from the same period last year - falling from 13 in 2010 to eight this year.

The overall monthly crime figures has also decreased from 15 in August to eight in September - a drop of 47 per cent.

PC Steve Speariett said: “Crime has fallen for the second month in a row, both September and the year to date totals are well below the long term average.

“It was pleasing to see that Colyton Carnival passed with only one reported incident (assault) in which the offenders have all been dealt with.

“There were three crimes of theft from motor vehicles which all appeared to be opportunistic. Please do not leave any valuables in sight, either take them with you or lock them out of sight.”

In Axmouth there was one recorded crime on September 23 where a rucksack and contents were stolen from a blue Peugeot 206 in Steps Lane.

Two offences were recorded in Colyton, which is down from the previous month, including a theft from a residential property between August 10 and September 9, and an assault at the fair ground during Colyton Carnival.

Three young women have admitted to committing the assault and have been dealt with.
